If you think soap operas are ‘old school’, think again! Our friend, Bijan, got a call from ABC Studios to choreograph for One Live to Live. The scene: two girls, one guy. Girl dates guy. Guy dances with another girl. Girlfriend walks in on racy dance scene. Guy gets caught. Are you hooked yet? Daytime TV is scandalous and fun. Bijan agrees. “After a prep meeting with directors and a rehearsal with actors in the AM, we shot in the afternoon. Gigi found Stacy doing a sexy, hip hop dance to seduce Rex. It was a cool scene. As a choreographer, I had so much fun working with a major network because there’s lots of room for growth and opportunity. If they need me for a future scene or a TV show, they know where to find me.” “Dancers should look beyond music videos, which actually pay the least. Sometimes when TV studios call you, the scenes don’t even involve dance. They just want a dancer’s perspective, and you get to direct.” Moral of the story: You can really clean up with soap opera gigs. Photos courtesy of Bijan R. Williams. |
