Leaving a Legacy

Swedish Street Dance VIPs

Before Bounce came to be, each member was a background dancer. “We all had different styles. Some of us knew popping, some locking, some tap; we even had the world champion in Lindy Hop. Some of us are trained in ballet and jazz, some are self-taught. We were a mess of dancers with different styles.”

The story unravels as this unique Swedish dance group took their “mess” and put it on stage to prove that hip hop can go beyond backing up an artist. To date, Bounce has created nine full-length productions, drawing inspiration from movies, pop-culture, politics, environmental issues and society trends. Their biggest hit, “Insane in the Brain”, questions the definition of “normal” in a hip hop version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo´s Nest.

Besides innovative themes, Bounce is leaving a legacy. How are they doing it? One tip is with their flash mob MJ tribute, snagging 8 million YouTube hits. “More than 30 cities followed our footsteps and put together their own MJ flash mobs.”

They then got the request to become an honorary VIP dot in the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait.” Bounce performers took the lead and joined celebrity VIPs such as Brian Friedman, and millions of MJ fans through the most-visited and highly celebrated interactive portrait website.

“Having a MJ VIP Dot in the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait is where it’s at.” Fredrik’s not stopping at VIP status. “I want to show people that we can take a small step towards a better world, which I believe was one of Michael’s main goals,” he added.

Moral of the Story: Follow the leader and Bounce your way to your own Legacy.
