It's our favorite era, where bell-bottoms and afros ruled. Can you guess the decade? Can you dig it? Here’s a hint. THINK: disco balls, boogie woogie words and shagadelic sequins. Ladies and gentleman of gendance, DISCO IS OFFICIALLY BACK and it’s hotter than you imagined. Three choreographers came together 6 months ago to host a disco-themed party and today, they’ve not only mastered a gig at one of Atlantic City’s hottest clubs, but they’re boogie’in down to Brooklyn with a featured show in DUMBO, January through March. If you’re feelin’ groovy, put on your purple-tinted shades and get ‘dazed and confused’ for this 1 hour and 15 minute trip into disco nightlife, where love triangles are hot, and host, Jimbo Smiley concocts some sweet cocktails. The choreography is a fusion of hip hop, house, theatre, contemporary and burlesque (who-hoo!). Mix that with the timeless music that brings audiences together from all generations and you’ll be jivin’ in no time to this interactive dynamo of a disco-liscious experience. And if you’re looking to bring back some oldie but goodie fashion trends, dig deep into your closets, because the fun, the fantasy and the shiny will be polled. That’s right. Show up in disco digs and you may win the costume contest. There’s even roller-skates. Yeah baby, yeah! So, fun-loving party-goers (you know who you are) get your platforms and mini skirts out of the attic and head to Brooklyn to see 9 dancers, 1 vocalist and Mr. Jimbo Smiley, as they bring you back to the ‘good life. See it. Every 3rd Thursday of every month until the end of March, at The Underwater Lounge at Water Street in DUMBO. 66 Water St, Brooklyn. Show starts at 9:00 pm. Tickets are $20 and there’s a 2-drink minimum. (18 to get down, 21 to drink) Disco really has never gone far...it’s something that’s in your heart and moves you to live, laugh, love and dance the night away. And baby…it’s Stayin’ Alive! |
