Michelline, (remember her from this issue?) moved to NYC to earn her BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. She developed Pointe Work Designs when she discovered her knack for painting, but she packed it away for Sin City. “Moving to Vegas put me on stage every night and allowed me to build momentum.” She hit the jackpot in Vegas and performed for four years with the world famous “Les Folies Bergere”, developing a strong network of performers and friends. (She also picked up quite the set of circus skills like juggling, hand-balancing, trampoline and aerial.) But she gave it all up to break into film and television and moved to La La land this Fall. Luckily, Michelline thrives on the anticipation of ‘what could be’. Although she was scared to leave her comfort zone, she knew she’d be able to dance and act by moving to LA. “I’ve never seen so much opportunity for performers in one place! I want a piece of it, however small.” While the opportunities are many, the competition is tight. The classically-trained Michelline is currently making herself a marketable beauty in this area by honing in on new skills. “It’s been difficult to put the same amount of energy into both dancing and acting. But, all art relates to each other and the more skills you have, the more marketable you will be!” Moral of the Story: Never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. |
