Visual Artists, Composers And Dancers Come Together To Nurture Their Universal Dreams And Ambitions For A Multimedia Celebration On February 21st, 2009

Whoa, that was a mouthful.  But seriously folks, it’s time to take a stand, or better yet, a standing ovation. Join gendance as we sponsor Mariana Bekerman Dance Company on Saturday, Feb. 21st from 8-11pm at Jivamukti Yoga School.  This social fundraiser is set to help raise the money needed for the company’s latest project, BLACK & WHITE.  Tickets are only $25 in advance ($30 at door).  If you have to think about why you should come, just read the stats below and understand how the arts affect your life.  It’s time to give back.

• According to The New York Times, the share of corporate philanthropy dedicated to the arts has dropped by more than half over the last 10 years.
• No performing art has been hit harder by our lean economy than modern dance, with the National Endowment for the Arts cutting their assistance in recent years to just one-fifth of their one-time level of support.
