Come ‘n Ride The Train, ‘n Ride It

If you think it’s hard to catch your balance while simply standing on the subway, come through the turnstile of dance with us and try pulling these moves.  Taking the 1?  9?  A-C-E?  If so, your Metro Card may get you more than a $2 ride… a free ticket to dance awaits.

Spontaneous spectators get a free hip hop performance when the subway comes alive with impromptu break dancers that hop on board. If you’ve been lucky enough to get a glimpse of these ambitious dancing kids in NYC subways, we hope you’ve donated a dollar or 2. 

Inspired teens place their hands on the worn tiles of the platforms and spin their scissor-kicking legs effortlessly in the air.  The breakers bring street dancing to a whole new level… literally, underground. 

Thanks to groups like Rock Steady Crew and movies like Beat Street, break dancing and B-boying are a pillar to hip hop culture, especially in NYC.  From the Bronx to Queens to the Manhattan subway system, this is home to where many dancers call ‘going on tour’.
