Performers are beautiful people AND they do beautiful deeds. We’re so moved by the new version of the VIVA GLAM project because they’ve chosen the coolest role models to translate powerful messages to pop culture followers. We know you’d love to be a spokesperson whenever you can, so, we have advice. If you’re father yells, “Whatchu gonna do with your life” take the hint that “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and dance this spokesperson idea in your mind. Start contacting companies to be their spokesmodels, you hot gendancers, you. With celebrities on board, MAC Cosmetics has announced the Spring 2010 VIVA GLAM Collection featuring trendsetters Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. Why they chose Cyndi Lauper: “Lauded, loved, copied, passionately acclaimed, the idol of all those for whom a quirky idiosyncrasy in makeup, hair, or style may say it all.” We couldn’t have said it better. This talented singer-songwriter has always done her own thing. (GFF approved!) Unlike the faux-celebs of today (ahem, Jersey Shore), Lauper is known for using her fame for good causes, whether helping out at food banks around the country or assisting with the True Colors Fund. With the launch of VIVA GLAM Cyndi, her platform is helping support women who have contracted HIV/AIDS through rape. Why they chose Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah Gaga: Lady’s Gaga’s overnight success may be attributed to her “shock-art approach to performance” (like smearing ashes on herself and Elton John at the Grammy’s...). She actually grew up singing Cyndi Lauper songs. At age 17, she became was one of 20 kids in the world to gain early admission to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She was signed by her 20th birthday and wrote songs for other artists (such as the Pussycat Dolls, and has been asked to write for a series of Interscope artists). The rising star on her way to becoming an established legend, often jokes about “changing the world one sequin at a time.” With the launch of VIVA GLAM Gaga, she stands for preventing HIV/AIDS by by being selective about those you love. Are you inspired yet? If not, look and see (from within our own industry) how Courtney Galiano and Cliche Cosmetics came together to do good for Dancers Care Foundation. Follow the trend; reinvigorate brands with your performing artist flair. |
