Now, meet Taylor Saxelby, a gendance Trend Award Winner, from Celebrity Competition’s Colorado regionals. This sweet-16’er from Pointe Dance Academy has a lot to say to the next generation about her aspirations. Read the intimate convo we had with her below and understand that gendance is here to stay when it comes to highlighting kids that try their best and make a difference.

What’s the trendiest thing you do?
My originality is the trendiest thing I do. I’m constantly trying to be unique.

What’s the nicest thing you’ve done for someone else?
I commute to Kansas where I teach and choreograph for a small studio.

How do you use your talent to inspire others?
I hope to inspire others with my time on stage and to be a good role model for younger girls at my studio.

If you could change one thing about the dance world, what would it be?
I wish I could change the lack of confidence a lot of dancers seem to have. (Good call.)

In 10 years, what career do you hope to have?
A professional dancer. (Hey, she’s honest. We like honesty.)

Your most embarrassing performance moment happened when…
I forgot a section of choreography and chose to stand in the same pose for three eight-counts. (Ouch!)

If you could appear on the red carpet with any dance celebrity, who would it be and why?
Definitely Bob Fosse because he re-shaped the dance world.

Are you a Celebrity in your community? If so how?
I wouldn’t consider myself a celebrity but I always try to be the best person I can be in everything I do.

What’s one thing that people do not know, but should know, about you?
I always try to exude confidence, but that’s something I’ve struggled with in the past and still do.

Why does the dance world need gendance?
Because the dance world needs inspiration since we’re always striving for perfection within ourselves. You’re that for the future of dancers, gendance.

What moment will you remember most from your weekend at Celebrity?
This moment right now, for the recognition I have received.
