Front-Running

You may have heard of Cool Runnings, or have seen the latest NIKE promos for running shoes, but this is way different. Front Runners are popping up all over New York City to join together for one of the biggest years yet for NDW-NYC. Names such as Kat Wildish, Chet Walker, Karla Garcia, Annika Connor, Cheryl Cutlip, Daniel Gwirtzman, Candice Thompson, Luis Salgado, Kimberly and Kathy from Pilates on Fifth and Mark Eckstein said YES to togetherness.

If you didn’t know this already, National Dance Week, NYC has its very own chapter, and in the city that never sleeps, this town most certainly never stops dancing either; so why not create a program that benefits the pioneers that make it tick? We got the inside scoop from the team leaders of this Front-Runner mission, namely Tasha Norma, Pat Ahaesy and Aileen Malogan. “We created this program because NDW-NYC should be representative of the people at the very heart of New York City dance,” said Norman.

Front Runners range from painters to owners of Pilates studios and dance clothing lines and former Rockettes. If you’re Facebook friends with any one of them, you’ll see they post updates for NDW-NYC every week. Although they’re virtually doin’ their thang, you may see them come together on May 18th for a dance party at Ailey. There’s an email blast sent out by NDW-NYC that spills the buzz. What are they front-running for you ask? They’re spokespersons who spearhead the discounts, deals and freebees offered throughout the NDW-NYC movement being held June 5th-14th, 2010. Some are even happing now. (You should get on that, too.)
