A Next Gen Chat with Chet WalkerDesmond RichardsonMeet Desmond Richardson. We asked him this: “You’ve worked in many areas of dance with Chet including Broadway, concert, his company as a guest, and in plays that he’s directed. Is there a common ground that he comes from? Also, Chet says that you, Desmond, are at the beginning of a new career. What does he mean?”

It is always a wonderful journey to embark upon, working with Chet. Each endeavor is filled with a nostalgic ride through time helping us to create the the future.

I believe the common ground Chet and I come from is full commitment and attention to detail. Chet reminds us all that we must be specific in our delivery so there is no gray area; to continuously invite the audience into our song, dance and words.

And gendancers, when Chet states that I am embarking upon a whole new career, he means that I am investing another aspect of my Art. I am a performer delving into new types of projects to help me fulfill that need. I look towards my future with wide eyes and an open heart and having a mentor like Chet’s belief and encouragement is a true gift.

My best to all GFF’s and to Chet,
Desmond Richardson
