Meet Malcolm Gets. We asked him this: “Chet says you just met a year ago. In the few times you’ve worked together, what is the driving force for him, knowing that you’ve just begun your journey together... and then tell us about the working atmosphere when you’re around Chet. We hear he’s fast and funny and adores his work. And if you have any additional stories, do dish.”
A few years ago, after seeing the revival of A Chorus Line, I realized I was longing to dance again. I had begun my career in NYC dancing in shows, and had even taken Chet's class. Mind-reader and magician that he is, he contacted me shortly after, and said "Get your butt up to Jacob's Pillow." How could I resist? At my first rehearsal with Chet, and the amazing Dana Moore, I realized I was having as much fun as I'd had in a long time, not only because Chet's work is so fantastic and unique, but because we couldn't stop laughing and telling stories. And then, to see the inspiring work he does with the students... Chet is a true leader. A great teacher, Choreographer, Director, and a heck of a guy. Chet doesn't just HAVE a driving force, he IS a driving force. A kind, talented, and generous driving force. And he does a wicked Gwen Verdon. ;)
Thank you for sharing this Malcolm. Thank you too, Chet Walker, for inspiring our GFF audience with your wisdom and drive. We’re honored to call you gendance Ambassador.
