American Tap Dance Foundation

Tonight we set sail with ATDF on their Sunset Cruise and Tap Jam. Before we cruise around Manhattan, here’s a little history:
Past
Formerly the American Tap Dance Orchestra, ATDF was founded in 1986 by master tap dancers Brenda Bufalino, Tony Waag, and the late Charles ‘Honi’ Coles. In 2002, with a new generation of tap dancers and enthusiasts, the Orchestra was renamed, and under the direction of Tony Waag, renewed its vision of establishing the first-ever Center for Tap.
Present
ATDF offers year-round programming: Tap Classes for kids, teens and adults, the Tap City Youth Ensemble, Master Tap Choreography Intensives, the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund, seasonal performance series, the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame, Tap City on Tour and Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival…
Totally Next Gen
ATDF just launched an extensive film, print, audio and photo archive called the Gregory Hines Collection of American Tap Dance. ATDF was also featured on NY1 for a “WhereTo Go” segment. You can also check them out on the NY1 website.
