When we first saw Chantel Vinson’s art, she told us, “I'm just a regular ole gal.” Yeah, right. Currently a high school teacher and personal trainer in Arizona, Vinson is anything but ordinary. In fact, Vinson is vigorous. She personally trains athletes, dancers and cheerleaders. But her artistic ability keeps her connected with today’s hottest dancers. How’d she meet them? Mutual friends brought her and Twitch together and low and behold, good ‘ole Facebook put her in the presence of Comfort and Chelsie. “Comfort came to AZ for master classes and we palled around. I also design clothing, so I hooked her up with a few of my pieces. She loved them and we’ve kept in touch ever since.” Originally from LA, Vinson was born to a teenage mother and lived a tough life; much harder than you’d imagine. Chantel moved around and lived with various family members and friends. It was her difficult upbringing that led her to discover positive avenues of self-expression. She was determined to change the course of her family’s history. Her optimism shines right through the colors of her palette. Chantel DJ’s for fun and can hold her own on the dance floor; but her love for the arts is not manifested through movement. She paints the picture (literally) on canvas. “I began to draw and paint when I was young as a way of channeling my emotions.” We recently covered a dancer/singer who carried a tune to express herself; Chantel carries a paintbrush. She paints to give her newfound friends inspiring gifts. (Hint, hint, gendancers… Facebook this gal today!) “I myself am not in the limelight, but I have connections with rockstars, athletes, dancers and artists. I don't mind putting myself out there and sharing my story, or taking a moment to invest in someone else.” You never know whose life you can impact with your own, by shining out of the spotlight. Take a few lessons from this trendsetter: Be humble and reap the rewards of Facebook. Friend Chantel today. |
