More from the NEW gendance Ambassador Series: A Day in the Life Of...
Seth Stewart; From Broadway to Business Owner.

A Day in the Life of Seth StewartWednesday morning, July 21, 2010-- What a week it's been. I feel like I've been taking more class than I've been teaching. But even teachers and artists need to keep up on their own training. This week, I had less students than expected. But I realize it's ebb and flow... and businesses of all kinds must prepare for lack of business and over flow of business. I'll be happy when there is an over flow again! I realize that in business as in life, a person needs to have patience and faith. That quote, Patience and Faith actually comes from In The Heights. And it's funny how much the writing and meaning from that show has found it's way in and out of different moments in my life. But it's true, being patient and having faith that things will work out is the only way to approach things in business and in life.

In my life I have always been a multi-tasker. Along with working on the studios, I have also been working on my children's musical, Show-n-Tell with my uncle and business partner Stepp Stewart. We are preparing for a run in Atlanta in the first week of October. We worked out having Frenchie Davis from American Idol to play one of the principles in the show... so that will definitely be exciting! We're working now on getting sponsorships to fund the show. We have had shows in D.C., Virginia, Ohio, and are currently working on getting the show all over the east coast. And just like any other business, your start up money always ends up coming out of your own pockets. Luckily, if others believe in what you do, there are financial ways to keep your projects running and expanding to more audiences or clients. So, that's where we stand with trying to allow Show-n-tell to expand throughout the country on a national tour. It's not easy running a show through both the creative and business sides. But I always feel it is best to know every angle of the business that a person is interested in. That way, you will be more prepared if a personal project takes off, or if you move on to other projects. Business is almost like a chess match... you always need to look at the bigger picture of what is happening, and you always need to know your next move in order to succeed.

So who knows what tomorrow and the future brings? I guess it's something worth waiting and working for. That is the mystery of business and life... that is the mystery that keeps me going. And thank goodness, because otherwise, I would be bored. I leave by saying, keep your dreams a priority, keep your goals in front of you, and always have patience and faith! Until we meet again...
