Rue De Maryss |

This week, gendance watched animation cartoons and ate Nutella sandwiches (she loves this stuff) with Maryss from Paris. Growing up in Pari (you guessed it) and later residing in Naxos, Greece, this Beat Freak started breaking after being inspired by MJ. (You see, it all comes back to Michael—every single time.) But she also gives props to her sensei, Flo Master and mentor, Jex, who sends her motivating emails with the right words to fuel her soul. You may catch Maryss teaching tricks at Debbie Reynolds dance studio in Los Angeles. And when she’s not in front of the mirror, she’s winning audition roles for Sprite, Old Navy, iPod, The Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown and JT. (Sexy IS back, just look at her.) We dug deep with Maryss because it can’t all be fine and dandy. Yes, Missy Elliot loves her, but we had to find the hook to get you inspired. And we did. Goin’ back to the high school hallways, Maryss told us she remembers falling down a whole flight of stairs because she was running to meet up with... boys. (You guessed it.) Laughing it off, Maryss from Paris set the trend. “As long as you don’t change yourself to get noticed, go for it. If you fall, pick yourself right back up and keep your integrity in check with who you are.” Don’t miss her as the lead in a new dance flick coming soon. And although she’s a tad nervous about it, we think she’s gonna eiffel it, like the tower, baby. MORAL of the Story: “God will never give you obstacles or battles without giving you the tools or weapons to overcome them… so welcome them and BEAT them.” -M. from P.
