National Dance Day is Announced |
||
|
“Get out of Jail Free cards” were handed out last week on SYTYCD. You know the contestants sighed in relief, then partied hard that night. In light of the success of no one going home, an announcement was made instead. Co-Creator and Judge, Nigel Lythgoe, sparked a grassroots movement beginning with his show, and today we’re dancing in our chairs about National Dance Day beginning this weekend, Saturday, July 31st. This official date recognized by Congress will be hosted by Eleanor Holmes Norton (GFF Congresswoman) with a flash mob on the National Mall between 3rd St and 4th St SW. Wanna get on the scene? Hop on Greyhound today or acela yourself to National Dance Day in Washington. And get this... Nigel told us that this day does not ‘belong’ to any single corporation, TV show or charity. (Thank goodness, no posers allowed.) It belongs to the people. The real fact, gendancers, is this: more than 30% of Americans are obese. Nigel believes that by promoting this national day of dance as a healthy, motivating and self esteem driver to get in shape, we can bring that number down. (None of us want our GFF babies to be overweight do we?—No!) The coming out party begins Saturday. Join Nigel and his mission and if you can’t make it to Wash, there are events taking place nationwide in Chicago, Phili, Boston, Phoenix, Tampa, Nashville, Salt Lake City, San Diego and close to gendance’s home, Orange NJ. Is your town hosting an event to celebrate? Log on to www.fox.com/dance to check. Celebrate on Saturday and get down because dance just got its own day. Move over Madi Gras! Holy Dance Day! |
