Cho’s A Day In the Life
8-10-10
This week seemed to be a more relaxed week, at least my definition of relaxed.
It was the busy week of MONSTERS OF HIP HOP MANIA, the intensive, and also the big Show they put on every year. I didn’t get to participate as much as I usually do, as a result of my injury, but I didn’t let that stop me from getting a sneak peak at some point.
Lisette and I debuted our 2 hour Creating Opps seminar that week as well. So we spent a lot of time prepping and updating the curriculum to fit for that time slot.
Somewhere in the middle of prepping I always make time for coaching sessions with our Elite Team members. Check out Creatingopps.com and find out more about our mentorship program entitled the Elite Team!
During the Monsters Intensive, we held a sneak preview Creating Opps seminar to promote for the big Evening one that night. It was awesome. Dancers were inspired and couldn’t wait to attend the evening session. There’s nothing more fulfilling to me than “reaching people”.
By 5pm that evening, it was time to prepare for the “Big Event”, The Creating Opps Evening seminar was fast approaching. Our Elite Team were there right on time to help coordinate, volunteer and organize, all debuting our new Creating Opps T-shirts, with “We Create” on the front. Check out threader.com to get yours.
The theatre started to fill and it was time to share, listen, and Create. The seminar was an awesome success, can’t wait to do more.
With the Weekend came the Monsters show. So exciting to watch new dancers transform and perform after the grueling rehearsal process they endured for 2 weeks. You never know what’s going to happen on that stage until… it does.
Proud of Bijoya “BJ”, one of our Creating Opps Elite team members, for showcasing her stuff, and Taja Riley, a unique and gifted dancer on her way to greatness.
The weekend was culminated by some good ole’ family time. My mom and I went to Church and got some much needed spiritual food. My cousin and I met up after, had lunch, caught up and spent some quality time, laughing, and enjoying each others company. Can’t wait to see what next week has in store.
Always... a mystery.

A Day in The Lisette Life
August 7, 2010
Virgin America airlines rock my world! I’m on my flight back home to New York City after a very accomplished week… I’m a bit exhausted but exhilarated at the same time…
My week was jam packed with to-do lists, commitments and appointments… it was hard to find breathing room but I managed to make it through alive. Well, barely alive (winking).
Wednesday began with me picking up Cho to head over to the Monsters of Hip Hop intensive workshop where I’d be teaching my first dance class at 10:30 am. Class was on FIRE!!!! They killed my choreo with such passion and energy that it truly gave me the inspiration I needed to complete my day. I love it when my students really live in class, it makes such a difference in everyone’s experience… YES!!!!
Immediately after the class, we gave a preview of the Creating Opps seminar to the Monsters intensive kids. The preview was powerful, moving and really groundbreaking for them. There were tears and laughs and it was overall a complete success. This seminar is something that makes me feel alive. Just being with these dancers and really getting to coach them and help them see who they truly are, for me, is truly an awesome and fulfilling experience.
On to the next one… as soon as the seminar ended, we rushed out to get a quick bite before we headed over to The El Portal theatre for our 2 hour tech rehearsal for the Monsters Show, which I must say ran pretty smooth. After that it was time for our long awaited Los Angeles Creating Opportunities Seminar event.
The event turned out to be beyond MAGICAL!!! We had more attendees than expected and I really felt that the evening was inspiring and gave a new outlook to a lot of dancers about creating the careers of their dreams. The seminar ended at 8 pm, but let’s just say we were there until almost 9:30 pm talking with them and connecting. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!! I still find it hard to believe that this still was only Wednesday! After the day was done, me, Cho and our friends Blu, Renita and Jenny went to have a well deserved late night dinner at Kitchen 24 in Hollywood. We laughed, ate, drank and celebrated Blu’s birthday…. WHAT A DAY?!?!?!
Thursday was lighter with a run through for Monsters and dinner with a few friends… I even snuck in a couple hours at the beach for some R&R.
Last night wrapped the week all up with the Monsters show… those kids went off!!! It was the culmination of two weeks of hard work for them and for ME…hahaha!!! My last 2 weeks in LA were crazy, inspiring, exhausting, eventful, and fulfilling. It’s been a minute since I worked every single day for 2 weeks straight but I made it through like a trooper.
As I sit here on my flight, and I look at my life and how full it is, I’m grateful. I couldn’t’ have asked for more, I do what I love and I really love what I do!
Thanks gendance for keeping up with the Joneses... we mean the Chonique’s and Lisette’s. Check back with us next week for more flava flave of creating opps with the ladies.
