Global gen Trendsetter - Qué Bella! |
||
|
Liz Williams snagged the gendance trendsetter award at the 2009 EURO-graphers’ Jam three weeks ago. We tracked down Italian choreographer, Desiree Storani, to find out what made Liz so deserving of this reward. “Oh… her lines… she has beautiful lines! But, the most important thing about her was the push to feel the music of the choreography as I felt it. It was set to rock music, a Foo Fighters song, which is not always easy to dance to. Liz tried to set the accents where I put them. This is a basic requisite for dancers.” Liz Williams is in sync with Desiree’s assessment: The Italian beauty also commented on teaching styles in the USA and Italy. While she hasn’t noticed a great difference between countries, she did pick up on one phenomenon that remains the same across continents. “I noticed the openness that dancers have towards every request that’s made to them during class, regardless of their dance background or physical abilities. To be a ‘white sheet’ on which to write is a very important characteristic for dancers to have.” |
