Hey Geo,
How can I come and take class with you if my studio doesn’t travel and I’m in Ohio? I know you’re on competition tours and you do so many events, but what can I do to get myself to learn from you this year?
Thanks Geo,
Karyn Miller, age 12-determined dancer
Hey Karyn,
OH NOOOOOoooo!!!! If only I received your question a few weeks earlier! I was just out in your neck of the woods in Sandusky, Ohio back at the end of October with Showstopper's convention tour. That would have been the best opportunity for you to take my class this year. If only we connected sooner, I'm bummed Karyn!!! Good news is that I will be back in October of 2010 so we have to make sure we keep you updated on my whereabouts! Your question has motivated me and given me some inspiration Karyn! I need to keep my fans in the GEO-KNOW! SOOOO - I am getting ready to launch hiphopgeo.com and it will keep you and the dance community updated on what I am up to, what projects I am working on and most of all, where I am teaching. I am so thankful to gendance for connecting and re-connecting me with so many great dancers and teachers. I need to stay in touch with all of these amazing and "determined" people in our dance community! If I get out to Ohio in the meantime, I will be sure to let you know ;) I look forward to hip-hoppin' with you Karyn! There are so many great choreographers and teachers in the business, I am honored that you are determined to learn from me, it makes me feel very good about what I do. It is young dancers like yourself that make me stop and think about my responsibility to the next generation of dancers. Growing up in NYC, I learned from "iconic" instructors like Frank Hatchett, AC Ciulla, Michele Assaf, Joe Lanteri & so many more. I looked up to those teachers and admired them so much, I loved learning from them. I sometimes wonder if my students feel the same way about me now. I guess it is full circle... I must now pass on my knowledge, creativity, and passion for dance to you... the next generation of dancers. The best part is, I love it. I hope someday you can come visit me and take class at my dance home, ICON DANCE COMPLEX in New Jersey. It is a very special place to me and I love teaching there everyday. I love opening the doors to ICON to anyone who has a passion and determination to learn. One of my bigger goals is to someday provide that opportunity to dancers that truly want to travel far and wide to learn from me. Thank you for pushing me to work harder at my goals and dreams Karyn. Hope I see you in class in the near future. Stay determined and keep following your dance dreams.
Be ICONic... GEO
