Put Down The Christmas Cookies And Pick Up The Noise Makers!
January 1, 2009

Cheers to 2009!

We got up close with your favorite brand leaders, dancers and icons and asked them about their 2009 wishes. Let’s ring in the New Year, gendance style.

Angel Feliciano, dancer/choreographer

If you could meet anyone famous in the entertainment biz in ‘09 who would it be?  Soldier Boy, ‘cuz I’ve yet to master that dance.  There are different variations of it.  Almost got into a fight with a 10 year old because I did the wrong steps!

What’s going to be the most popular dance trend in ‘09?  It’ll be something simple like cross your fingers, then snap, bounce two times and yell.

Dick Clark or Ryan Seacrest?   I’m a big fan of Mr. Clark.  Ryan is just everywhere. I think I have the Ryan Seacrest toothpaste and cereal.  You name it, he’s on it.

Anjuli Bhattacharyya, Movmnt Magazine

What's going to be the most popular dance trend in 2009?  The revival of thong leotards.

How do you know?  The ridiculous amount of day-glo inching its way into wardrobes of dancers all over the world.

Any hints on fav reality dance TV shows for ‘09?  Read Movmnt.  We'll have them for you ;)

Sandy Coyte, Founder, Dancers Care Foundation

What’s the top resolution for gendance readers?  Always put your family and friends first.

What’s going to be the most popular dance trend in ‘09?  Raising funds for charity- especially Dancers Care Foundation.

How do you know?  It’s good karma.

Andrea Rogers, Founder/Xtend

What's the resolution that you keep making, but never stick to? Every year I decide that I’m going to become a better cook (okay, that I am going to learn how to cook), but I never seem to actually "learn" anything.  But this year is going to change! I’m ready... watch out Rachel Ray!

What's going to be the most popular dance trend in ‘09? I would have to say ‘dance workouts’ will be hitting mainstream in ‘09.

Did you meet anyone famous in ‘08?  I shared an elevator with Leonardo DiCaprio at a hotel NYC.  Does that count?

Rogelio Douglas, current Sebastian, “The Little Mermaid”

What’s your top resolution for gendance readers?  Work on getting better in all that you do.  Never stop growing.

What do you do on New Year's Day?  Sleep!!!

What’s the best thing about ‘08?  I launched a Broadway career.  I feel blessed.

What’s going to be the most popular dance trend in ‘09?  I think ‘house dancing’ is gonna make a surge.

How do you know?  The music that's coming out.

Candice Thompson, Founder, LOLAstretch

What’s your favorite New Year's resolution?  Being more organized!

What’s the resolution you keep making, but never stick to?   Being more organized.  Well, that’s really not fair to myself.  I am getting more organized, just not quite to that ideal place yet.

How much do you really love that New Year's song, Auld Lang Syne?  Not so much.

Do you know the words?  No.  Does anyone?

Anastasia Miller, Talent Scout, CTG

What’s your favorite New Year’s resolution? To NOT be another bridesmaid in ANOTHER wedding!  I somehow can’t say “No”!

What’s your top resolution for gendance readers? Treat others as WE would like to be treated.  No one likes a DIVA.

How much do you really love that New Year's song, Auld Lang Syne? It makes me all emotional and choked up!

Do you know the words? Sort of…kind of…mmmm…not really.

Gabriela Garcia, Dance Captain, CHICAGO

What’s your favorite New Year's resolution?  Thinking of the many places I want to visit.

What’s the resolution that you keep making, but never stick to?  NOT visiting the places that I wanted to visit.

Do you know the words to Old Lang Syne?  No.  I usually just hum the melody, but I guess I could just Google it, right?

Kimberly Lyon, Hollywood Connection

What are you doing on New Year's eve? I will be asleep before midnight!

What’s going to be the most popular dance trend in ‘09? Musical theater will become the next big dance craze, costumes with lots of feathers and high heel silver shoes!

What’s the most annoying thing about ‘08?  Nobody wears tights anymore.  I’ve seen enough leg lifts with no tights to last a life time!!!!

What’s the most exciting thing on your list for ‘09?  Hopefully having another baby! (I know, not dance related, but the most exciting thing for me!!!)

Well, there you have it.  Take it or leave it, it’s 2009.  If you can relate to the words of our esteemed interviewees, rock it out in the New Year, don’t look back, and be a good person.
