What does a new Aussie TV show have to do with your career? Stop being so antsy and we'll tell you. There's a two-fold story here. (Three-fold if you count stage parents.) If you're an aspiring star, you can learn from even the youngest of this group.
If you're 20-30 something and you're a professional making it big, this is your chance to feel humbled from these youngsters as they pave their career in this wholesome TV gig.
But, if you're a parent reading this (and we know who you are because you write to us every week and we love it) then give yourself a pat on the back because when you bring your GFF to class every week (or every day) this could be them at some point soon.
During the TV series, The Wannabes learn to balance high school studies with their secret life as performing artists. (Rule breakers... gotta love it!) The singers get into outrageous situations as they try to climb their way to the top of the pop charts, all while hiding their identity from the principal. (No, not Mr. Belding; Mr. Pesckow.)
So, when you read about our American Idol's as they leave the stage or see our backstage interviews at the LA auditions of So You Think You Can Dance (Yep, they're coming) you'll realize there is a message, people. You can be whatever you dream about; you don't have to be a wannabe. The Savvy stars will tell it to you straight.
We asked Mariah what fears she had to overcome in this TV show process.
I definitely had a fear of what I would have to give up to become what I wanted to be. I found out that you don't have to give up anything; you just earn 100% more feeling towards your goals. I never knew I'd end up on a TV show. It was all I'd dreamt of and worked for. All the little things finally came together. It's a journey and it doesn't start until you're here, and it includes all the little things you do before you make it.
We asked Andrew to describe the feeling of working with The Jonas Group.
I don't even know if I can describe that feeling. It's so amazing. I can't even tell you.
We asked Sarah (the youngest member) why gendancers would like their show.
Because it's really funny and it gives kids a good message. If they really want to do something-anything, they should do it.
We asked Drew what he has to say to aspiring male dancers.
No matter what other people are telling you, continue doing what you love. Dancing looks beautiful on the male body figure. On SYTYCD males get comments like "OMG, they look amazing." If you see that as a perfect example... never give up no mater what anyone says.
We asked Shaylen what the title "Wannabe" means to gendancers.
You can truly "be" whatever you want to be. In my heart, that's what it means. On the show, we strive to be these pop stars and we do anything we can to get there. "Wannabe" is the inspiration you have inside your soul to keep going.
We asked Alan (Hip hop dance master, always in the corner during breaks dancing) what wisdom he has for young performers.
If you really want something, you should know that it takes hard work to get to where you want to be. We've been a group for 6 years and NOW we're just getting our big break... keep trying even if the doors are closing on you... eventually it will happen.
MORAL of the story: gendancers that ROCK together ROLL together. It's ok to be a wannabe as long as it takes you to exactly where you WANT to be!

Hear what Jonas Representative Carolyn Weyforth had to say here.
And mates, before you forward this inspiring article to your friends, don't forget to read about the funny food fights and learn who the choreographers and dancers are in the show here. (Can you guess which Savvy member danced with Co. Dance?) You may get a chuckle from their answers. Moreso, we suggest watching their made-for-tv music videos including Fiesta Forever, Guys Rock Girls Rule, Bright Lights and Anticipation.
P.S. You can totally leave Savvy a message and It might be aired! We did this morning. Try it, it's fun. Call 281-616-8164. (Yes, we know texting is more appropriate for next geners, but let's go old school with this one.)
