Throughout the years, as my life changed and my career progressed, my style changed as well. I was more into high fashion a few years ago. I would buy shoes from Yves Saint Laurent, printed tank tops from Gucci and playful jeans from Marc Jacobs. After that phase, I started to love the basics and still do. A comfortable but stylish jean is essential, and when you put that together with a nicely fitted black, white, or colorful solid t-shirt, you can look like a million bucks. Most important is to make sure that your clothes reflect who you are. One of the reasons that I love my job is because I'm always around so many stylish dancers. I learn a lot from them! Wherever they go, they manage to find the coolest shops and best bargains. Dancers are such beautiful beings and they know how to make themselves even more divine by adopting unique and beautifully bold styles. Ilter Ibrahimof, Sunny Artist Management

Normally I don't actually care what kinds of things I wear or where they come from. But, they have to be easygoing and colorful... Other times I go more low key. If it has to be a brand, I'd prefer Energie, it has the colorful things I like, but stays kind of rough;plus the prices are really good. Overall what is important is to be confident about yourself and what you wear. That's what makes a perfect look. Daan Vervoort, from Compañia Nacional de Danza of Madrid, Spain

I'm pretty eclectic in my wardrobe choice. One day I can be in the mood for sportswear, and the next, I go for a sartorialist look, or both! I like to mix things up too. If I was to describe myself, I'd be somewhere between Rock'a'billy, Run DMC, Preppy and Hippy. To quote a few designers, I love Martin Margiela, Yves Saint Laurent, Acne, Odeur, Comme des Garçons, Givenchy and of course vintage! I travel a lot so I like to study and absorb the different styles of different countries and cultures. Sergio Diaz, from Ballet Preljocaj of Aix-en-Provence, France

Why can't we look good everyday of our life? Wear what YOU want, what makes you feel good. And not only what's supposed to look good in your culture. I like to explore what other cultures have to bring me clothes wise... We "disguise" ourselves everyday anyways! Ask Louis the XIVth about what he thinks of your outfit today... He WOULD wear it as a costume for carnaval. That nice pair of pants that you bought and that you wait for the occasion to wear, WEAR THEM! You never know what's gonna happen tomorrow. And what's the worst that can happen? That people tell you that you look good today? I think it's worth taking the risk. Jean-Sébastien Couture, from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, Canada

I like to wear things that are stylish but comfortable. I usually get my clothes from the cities I travel in. It is another way of having memories of past travels. Robert Knowles, he is an independent dancer/choreographer who is an ex-dancer of Les Ballets Jazz Montreal

I like to change styles as long as I can move in my clothes. I adore pants and jeans and have to refrain myself from buying too much! Most of the time, I buy clothes when I'm on tour because I can find different cuts and fabrics. But, when I shop in Canada, I love Urban Outfitters, Diesel, and G Star. Herve Courtain, from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, Canada

Let's go shopping gendancers. We're headed to ESPRIT. Where are you headed? Tell us on Facebook.
